Heavy rains forecast in coastal Karnataka, Kerala, Konkan, Goa

Pune, May 29 (UNI) The Southwest Monsoon has been vigorous in coastal Karnataka.

Heavy to very heavy rains are likely occur at most places in coastal Karnataka.

Heavy rains are likely to occur at most places in Kerala, Lakshadweep and at many places in Konkan and Goa.

Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at many places in south interior Karnataka and at a few places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Madhya Maharashtra, Rayalseema, Tamil Nadu, north interior Karnataka, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and at isolated places in West Bengal, Sikkim, Orissa, Jharkhand, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chattisgarh, Gujarat, Marathwada, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

Heat wave conditions prevailed at isolated places in Vidarbha. In the regions where the Southwest Monsoon is yet to set in, day temperatures were appreciably above normal in some parts of Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Saurashtra, Kutch, coastal Andhra Pradesh and coastal Tamil Nadu. They were above normal in some parts of Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Jharkhand, Bihar, Vidarbha and Chattisgarh.

Day temperatures were appreciably to markedly below normal in some parts of Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, south Madhya Maharashtra and south interior Karnataka. They were below normal in some parts of west Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, interior Tamil Nadu and in remaining parts of south Madhya Maharashtra. They were normal over the rest of the country.

Mainly dry weather prevailed over Arunachal Pradesh, Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal, Haryana, Punjab, Gujarat, Marathwada, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
