GMR to host Routes Regional Asia 2009 in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, May 29 (UNI) The GMR-Hyderabad International Airport Limited (GHIAL) has won the bid to host the prestigious Intra-Regional Route Development Forum-2009 conference.

'Routes' was an annual congregation of airlines and airports across the globe, joined by other interested or associated parties such as tourism, business and economic development boards and authorities.

In this annual meeting, deliberations were held on how best to enhance air services and meet the growing needs of local business.

Routes is organised on a grand scale with representatives of over 100 airline companies and 150 airports from all over the world participating, according to a release here.

Routes had been held in 11 cities across the globe. Last year's event had been hosted in Dubai International Exhibition Convention Centre, while the 2007 and 2008 events would be hosted by Stockholm Centre and Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, respectively.

GHIAL had been taking part in 'Route' conferences since 2004 and proactively marketing the new international airport in Shamshabad.

It, however, felt that it would market the airport and the city to the global airline companies more effectively by hosting the event, rather than participating in it elsewhere, the release said.

The company would manage the entire event on its own by taking care of various aspects such as planning and hotel accommodation for over 500 delegates, logistics, and PR and promotion, besides safety and security issues, it added.
