German Company Hunger Hydraulic to set up factory in Bengal

Kolkata, May 29 (UNI) Hunger Hydraulic India, a subsidiary of German company Hunger, one of the largest manufacturer of special purpose hydraulic equipment and components, will set up its first Indian factory at Sankrail near here.

Speaking to UNI, Hunger Hydraulic CEO(Indian Operations) B K Mukherjee today said the company has selected land in Sankrail and is currently working modalities with West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation.

Mr Mukherjee said the unit would attract 100 per cent FDI but he refused to divulge the investment. ''We are working out the investment figure and will announce it in the next month,'' he said.

The factory would manufacture a special hydraulic equipment called "Seal", which is essential for steel, coal and alluminium industries.

''The company has selected Kolkata as a hub to penetrate in the eastern as well as national market. The reason being 70 to 80 per cent hydraulic equipment is consumed in this part of the country,'' he said.

Mr Mukherjee further said that they wanted for two to three acres of land for the factory but initially would be getting a little less than that.

''In the second stage of expansion, we will take land near the present site,'' he added.
