Mumbai, May 29 (UNI) Pop singer Daler Mehndi has sent legal notices to film producer Yash Chopra and playback singer Mahadevan for using his voice in the yet to be released Hindi film ''Jhoom Barabar Jhoom (JBJ)''.

JBJ, directed by Shaad Ali and produced by Yash Raj Films, is one of the much- awaited films of the year. With a multi- starcast and a mix of catchy Punjabi songs, the film has already generated great interest among the youth.

''Daler Mehndi was to sing one of the songs in the film -- a Punjabi version, but the terms and conditions did not work out and we proceeded with Shankar Mahadevan's voice,'' a Yash Raj spokesperson told UNI.

''The matter was thus concluded approximately eleven months ago, and we are surprised that Daler Mehendi has raised the issue now. We will reply to the notice legally and through other appropriate forums,'' the spokesperson added.

Despite several attempts, Daler Mehndi and his office refused to comment on the development.

The title track of ''Jhoom Barabar Jhoom'' was initially crooned by Daler Mehndi. But, as the song was recorded, music composers Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy did not find the voice suiting the feel of the track and it was decided that the song sung by Daler Mehndi would be scrapped.

The song which features in the soundtrack is sung by Shankar Mahadevan.
