City police nab inter-state car lifters gang

Bangalore, May 29 (UNI) The city police have arrested five members of an inter-state car lifters gang, including two from Kerala, and seized from their possession 35 cars valued at over Rs 1.5 crore.

City Police Commissioner N Achyuta Rao told newspersons here that the arrested were nabbed following a tip off that the gang was on the prowl to rob a car on the Ring Road near Hebbal on Sunday night.

The arrested were identified as Naushad alias Abubaker, Shaji Kesavan of Kerala, Ajit Kumar Singh, Santosh alias Basavaraj and Zakir Hussain of Kerala. They mainly used to lay a trap and forcibly take away luxury cars at knife point, he added.
