Automobile assn to shut workshop from Aug 15 to press demands
Puducherry, May 29 (UNI) The Automobile Mechanics Welfare Association today threatened to close down their workshops indefinitely from August 15, if the government failed to fullfil their demands.
Addressing a press conference here, Association president R Jayaraman and Secretary M Krishnan said they had putforth several demands to the government but none of them was considered so far.
Stating that their business had affected due to marketing of new models of vehicles which needed less repairs, they said about 2500 persons were working in more than 500 workshops here.
The demands, include provision of bank loans, setting up of automobile industrial estate and an automobile nagar here and introduction of pension schemes to them, they added.
