Woman who sacrificed tongue reunites with missing husband
Varanasi, May 28 (UNI) A woman who had allegedly sacrificed her tongue at the Kashi Vishwanath temple here was today reunited with her missing husband for whom she had committed the shocking act.
Shaila Bai (50) was this afternoon reunited with her husband Nandu Singh, missing for the last two days in this holy city, police said today.
After reading the news of his wife sacrificing tongue yesterday at the world famous temple, Nandu reached the highly sensitive Kashi Vishwanath-Gyanwapi complex, following which the security personnel reunited him with his wife.
The couple will leave for their native place Faridnagar (Chattisgarh) tonight.
Shaila had allegedly cut a small part of her tongue with a blade as offering to Lord Shiva at the world famous shrine after failing to find her husband, who went missing while the couple was taking bath in the Ganga river on Saturday.
Police officials deployed in the three-tier Gyanwapi-Kashi Vishwanath security, however, had played down the matter, claming that Shaila, not in proper mental state had fell in the temple premises and a small part of the tongue was cut accidentally after coming between the jaws.
