Chennai, May 28 (UNI) The city police will use superimposition technique to ascertain the identity of the girl whose chopped body was found dumped near a burial ground at Aynavaram on May 26, in three plastic bags.

Police sources said the torso of the girl aged around 25 years, was highly decomposed and therefore, officials have sought the assistance of forensic experts for superimposition of the skull to identify the victim.

Officials have also sounded a state-wide alert collect information on cases of missing girls registered in the city and other parts of the state.

''This morning, the head, torso and limbs were stitched together to find whether all the body parts belonged to the same person, as part of the post-mortem.

''Since the face has been disfigured, forensic experts have been asked to assist in the probe,'' police sources said.

Meanwhile, five special teams formed to probe the murder, had already started receiving information on missing women.

The relatives of those missing have been asked to come to the police station with photographs of the girls so that they could be superimposed with the skull recovered near the graveyard.

The recovery of mutilated body parts sent shivers down the spines of the locals and evoked the memories of the brutal killing of Pon Navarasu, son of Former Madras University Vice-Chancellor K Ponnusamy at Annamalai University in Chidambaram in November 1996.

The mutilated body parts and the torso of Navarasu was found in a bus at Tambaram near Chennai, about 250 km from Chidambaram.

Medico John David, the hostel-mate of Navarasu, who committed the murder, was convicted and sentenced to double life term by a trial court in 1998. The case is now pending before the Supreme Court.
