Over 35 lakh tonne wheat arrives in Haryana mandis
Chandigarh, May 28 (UNI) Over 35.49 lakh tonnes of wheat has arrived in Haryana mandis so far this season as against 29.71 lakh tonnes during the corresponding period last year.
Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan today said of the total arrival, 31.91 lakh tonne wheat had been purchased by six government procuring agencies.
He said 7.75 lakh metric tonnes had been procured by the Food and Supplies Department, 12.30 lakh tonnes by Hafed, 3.35 lakh tonnes by Food Corporation of India, 3.16 lakh metric by Haryana Agro-Industries Corporation, about 2.78 lakh tonnes by Haryana Warehousing Corporation and 2.54 lakh tonnes by Confed.
The private traders had purchased 3.5 lakh tonnes of wheat, he said.
Sirsa district was leading with over 6.50 lakh tonnes of wheat arrival, followed by Fatehabad with 4.94 lakh tonnes, Kaithal 4.38 lakh tonnes, Karnal about 4.34 lakh tonnes, Jind with 4.35 lakh tonnes and Kurukshetra with 2.93 lakh tonnes.
