New airport at Shamshabad should be named NTR: TDP

Tirupati, May 28 (UNI) The TDP President N Chandrababu Naidu today demanded the Andhra Pradesh government to name the international airport coming up at Shamshabad in Hyderabad after the founder of the party N T Rama Rao.

Speaking ot the second-day of Mahanadu here, Mr Naidu warned the Congress(I) government that TDP would change all the names related to Rajiv Gandhi and Indira Gandhi for different projects given by the Congress(I) government, if the new airport was not named after NTR.

He demanded that the government should also honour NTR with Bharat Ratna as he had brought recognition to Telugu language around the world.

He said as the state government failed to announce the NTR national awards the TDP had taken a decision to give the awards by collecting funds from the party members and their families.

Earlier, actor-turned-politician and businessman Murali Mohan donated Rs five lakh to the NTR national award and Rs 10 lakh to NTR Educational Trust, from which the children of the deceased TDP activists were provided free education.
