'Naidu's allegations unfortunate': YSR
New Delhi, May 28 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today termed ''unfortunate'' the allegations of his predecessor N Chandrababu Naidu that he and his son had amassed huge wealthembezzling the state exchequer.
Reacting to Mr Naidu's allegations made at the TDP's Mahanadu, Dr Reddy said it was not his habit to put money in unknown accounts.
''Whatever assets or liabilities me and my son have is in our own names. I did not expect this kind of attack from a person who has occupied the Chief Minister's post for nine long years. The viciousness in campaign is because of 'jealousy','' he said.
''I and Mr Naidu started off in politics as Youth Congress workers. I was an Income Tax payer even during the student days and I don't want to remind him of his (Mr Naidu's) financial status,'' the Chief Minister said.
The Chief Minister said the situation in Hyderabad was brought to normalcy in three hours after the bomb blasts and it was everybody's knowledge that it took a fortnight of curfews when event of such nature occurred during Mr Naidu's rule.
Dr Reddy said during Mr Naidu's regime, there was no single irrigation or industrial project brought to the state but the state was agog with reports about diversion of food grains received under food for work programme.
About Mr Naidu's offer to revive national award in the name of TDP leader his late father-in-law N T Ramarao out of family funds, Dr Reddy said Mr Naidu had no right to speak a word about the late Andhra Chief Minister because the TDP Chief had ascended to power through 'backstabbing and deceit', he said.
