I am not in the race to Rashtrapati Bhavan: Arjun Singh

New Delhi, May 28 (UNI) Human Resource Development Minister Arjun Singh today ruled out his contesting the Presidential election.

''I am not in the race,'' Mr Singh told reporters after meeting Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, who is here to hold talks with the political leadership on the election to Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Replying to questions, the HRD Minister said it was now for the Constitution bench of the Supreme Court to expedite the case relating to the OBC quota issue.

He said he discussed with Mr Karunanidhi various issues, including OBC quota, proposed reservation in Tamil Nadu for the Muslims, deemed universities in that state and classical language Tamil.

The meeting between the two leaders lasted about 20 minutes at the new Tamil Nadu House.
