HC directs government to file status report on kidnappings

Patna, May 27 (UNI) Patna High Court today directed the Bihar government to act expeditiously to recover the missing children and women in the state and file status report by August 2, 2007.

A division bench comprising Chief Justice J N Bhatt and Justice S K Sinha passed the order while hearing a public interest petition.

During the hearing, counsel of the state government informed the court that 257 children and 432 women were missing in Bihar.The counsel submitted before the court that 210 kidnappers were convicted since January this year while 87 abduction cases were disposed off in the same period.

The court adjourned the hearing of the case till August 2.
