Chandigarh, May 28 (UNI) The Haryana Women Development Corporation has introduced a new scheme to provide loan on easy terms to girls for higher education within India or abroad.

Women and Child Development Minister Kartar Devi today said that under the scheme, any girl or woman student could get loan for higher education at an annual subsidy of five per cent in the rate of interest.

She said these loans would be admissible as per the educational loan scheme of the banks. Each girl of the state would be eligible to avail the benefit of the scheme and there would be no condition concerning income of the family, caste or community or religion.

She said that the decision to introduce this scheme was taken because it was observed that some promising girls remain deprived of higher professional or technical education due to limited resources of the family.

The scheme to give loan to girls on easy terms had been introduced on April one with the cooperation of banks so as to facilitate them in doing diploma, degree or post-graduation or doctorate or post-doctoraln studies.
