Bangalore, May 28 (UNI) Leader of the Opposition in the Karnataka Legislative Council H K Patil today alleged that a whopping 141,000 files were pending due to the ''lethargic atitude'' of Ministers of the JD(S)-BJP coalition government in attending to office works.

Speaking to newspersons here, he said of the total number of files waiting for Ministers' intervention, 50 per cent were pending in the last 12 months.

Mr Patil alleged that the Ministers, including Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, were rarely visiting their offices and clearing the files, resulting in the slow pace of administration and affecting the development of the state.

Over 18,000 files pertaining to various departments coming under the direct control of the Chief Minister were gathering dust, he added.

Referring to problems faced by sugarcane growers in the State, he said the Chief Minister had convened a meeting of all stakeholders of the sugar industry, including growers and sugar factories, to find a solution.

''Even after two months, the decisions taken at the meeting remained on paper. The instructions of Mr Kumaraswamy on the matter are yet to become government orders,'' he added.

Alleging that the holding of Common Entrance Test (CET) for admissions to PG medical courses would affect rural students, he urged the government to take a firm stand on the issue.
