Bollywood aspirant mimics actors, hopes to join the big league

Mumbai, May 28 (UNI) With stars in his eyes and a dream to be part of the entertainment industry in his heart, wannabe actor Gabbar Singh Chavan landed in the city of dreams to use his skills to mimic actors like Shah Rukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Dharmendra and Amitabh Bachchan.

Althouh he is not a part of the world of Bollywood, he surely has managed to pull the crowds.

The 23-year-old lad from Uttar Pradesh puts up a performance outside Hilton Towers in South Mumbai where he immitates top Bollywood actors.

He says, ''Approximately 200 to 250 filmstar wannabes come to tinsel town regularly in search of stardom, but not all of them make it. Most of them go back home empty-handed and disullusioned. But I am doing this only to hone my acting skills.'' Gabbar manages to earns Rs 200 to Rs 250 day. ''Whatever I earn is enough to see me through the month. I don't ask for money from my parents.'' He says his main aim is to become a huge star.

He was performing on the streets of Mathura since he was 14 years old. ''I have been struggling to get a foothold in Mumbai for the past two years,'' he says.

It has not been easy for him though. From sweeping the footpath to cleaning a businessman's house, he has done it all. He was even cheated by people who said they knew producers who would make him act and was beaten up by security guards manning a famous actor's residence where he had staged a performance.

He says things are changing now. ''I got a small part in a Bhojpuri film. Then I did a role in Ramleela at Prithvi Theatre.'' He has also acted in 'Jab Love Hua' on Zee and 'Woh Rehne Wali Mehlon Ki' on Sahara.

A class XII dropout, he says ''Right now I am working on a film 'Ada' by Tanvir Ahmed. The producer has told me if the film does well they will cast me again.
