Mysore, May 28 (UNI) Australian Trade Commissioner and Counsel General (South India) Aminure Rahman today said his Commission is eager to set up business centre in Mysore.

Speaking to newspersons, after an interactive session with Mysore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) here, he said he was here to exchange views and know about opportunities available for direct investment, joint venture, R and D, tourism and technology exchange.

Mysore being in the forefront of industrial development from the days of Maharajas and the presence of Infosys Global Learning Centre were main reasons for his visit to the city of palaces, he added.

He said Mysore was next only to Bangalore in the IT sector and was rated as the fourth fastest growing city in the country.

He said the bilateral trade between the two countries was to the tune of USD 8.6 billions and investment from Australia in India was USD one billion.

There were 140 Australian companies in India and 39,000 Indian students were studying in Australia.

Earlier Mr Rahman visited the Infosys Centre and participated in the meeting organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in the city.
