AER needed to better the lives of poor: TDP

Tirupati, May 28 (UNI) Telugu Desam Party Chief and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu today said formulation of 'Alternative Economic Reforms'(AER) was necessary to improve the lives of the poor.

Talking to newspersons on the second day of the TDP's three-day Mahanadu (annual conference) here, Mr Naidu said he would discuss the matter with leaders of all parties.

Stating that reforms had no meaning if they did not benefit the poor, he said his party had set up a committee to consider the issue and to prepare a broad framework for a meaningful debate.

Pointing out that about 58 per cent of the population was below 28 years of age, Mr Naidu suggested that the energies of this group should be properly utilised.

Asked about the Third Front formation, Mr Naidu said the proposal was still there and he would pursue it.

Several other parties were also looking for such an alternative, he said.
