ADF says injustice done to Coastal AP
Eluru, Andhra Pradesh, May 28 (UNI) The Andhra Development Forum (ADF) today charged the government with having done injustice to Coastal Andhra Pradesh by allocating crores of rupees to Telanga Region citing its backwardness.
Addressing the press here, ADF President C Srinivas alleged employment and educational opportunities besides investments were being channelised into Telangana region over so many years leaving behind those in coastal areas.
He also blamed the leaders from the coastal region for doing nothing to get even a single prestigious institution like the IIT in the area.
Referring to the 2004 tsunami,Mr Srinivas said the coastal region of Andhra Pradesh stretching for 1,100 km suffered huge loss of life and property. Even then, the governments did not set up a tsunami study centre in the affected coastal districts.
Instead it was established at Hyderabad which was in no way connected with the tragedy.
Mr Srinivas said the demand for separate telangana by its leaders was ridiculous as so many industries and educational institutions had been shifted to Telangana area due to its alleged backwardness.
''The government has expending crores of rupees at Telangana area which has already developed,'' he alleged.
Even in 'Jalayagnam,' the coastal region got only two projects and they were in litigation, he alleged.
However, 'the government has expending Rs.30,000 crore for the irrigation projects in Telangana.' The ADF chairman also claimed due to implementation of GO 610, coastal people would be deprived of employment opportunities.
