"Regional parties has to play major role for growth": Kumaraswamy

B R Hills, Karnataka, May 27 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy today stressed the need for regional parties to play a major role to ensure State growth keeping in view the coalition era.

Talking to newsmen after worshipping Sri Ranganathaswami at the hill top here, he said Karnataka had been totally forgotten at the central level and there was a need for the people of the State to promote regional parties by encouraging them so that its voice could be heard.

He said he was going to discuss various issues such as agriculture at the proposed National Development Council Meeting to be held in New Delhi shortly.

He said he was going to announce a package of Rs 400 Crores for Chamnarajanagar District.

Mr Kumaraswamy said that it was unfortunate that those who were in power during the last 17 years had ignored the District either due to fear of losing the post or belief in superstition. He hoped that the District would set a model to other Districts in the State.

The Chief Minister will be staying tonight at Kumbudkki tribal settlement village.
