'Rainbows in the Sun' to delight city art lovers

New Delhi, May 27 (UNI)'Rainbows in the Sun', an exhibition of paintings, drawings, sculptures and graphics, covering nearly a hundred artists is on display at the Lalit Kala Academy here.

The exhibition organised by Planet Art Pvt Ltd and Ishat Art, in an effort to bring together the works of artists of varied calibre under a single roof. It is a colourful bouquet to provide equal opportunity of public viewing and appraisal to the rich and the famous deftly juxtaposed by the tongue-in-cheek debutant into the hall of fame.

The exhibition was inaugurated on Friday by eminent film and theatre personality Lushin Dubey amid big fanfare. The event was attended by many renowned artists and art lovers of the city.

In her inaugural speech, Ms Dubey said artists have brushes to express their feelings and emotions while artists from the the entertainment field use their gestures to express themselves.

So artists from both fields use colours as their prominent medium.

Ms Dubey expressed her interest in the works and emphasised the necessity of organising such exhibitions at regular intervals.

Among the distinguished guests was phenomenal artist and former principal of Delhi School of Arts O P Sharma, who praised the organisers for such a generous effort of providing platforms for the newcomers along with the masters.

The exhibition showcases creations from noted artists like Jamini Roy, Jatin Das, Tyeb Mehta, M F Hussain, Sudip Roy, altogether near about 100 artists. Among other distinguished artists who have their creations displayed are Shyamal Mukherjee, Bijon Choudhary, Laxman Pai and Jogen Choudhary.

The show is a rare presentation to art lovers and art students as they can view a varied range of works of so many artists from different time phases. It will remain open till May 31.
