35 lakh tonnes wheat arrives in Haryana 'mandis'

Chandigarh, May 27 (UNI) Over 35.45 lakh metric tonnes of wheat had arrived in the Haryana mandis till yesterday as against about 29.71 lakh metric tonnes during corresponding period last year.

While stating this here today, Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan said that out of the total wheat arrival, 7.75 lakh metric tonnes had been procured by the Food and Supplies Department, 12.29 lakh metric tonnes by Hafed, 3.35 lakh metric tonnes by Food Corporation of India, 3.16 lakh metric tonnes by Haryana Agro-Industries Corporation, 2.78 lakh metric tonnes by Haryana Warehousing Corporation and 2.54 lakh metric tonnes by Confed. The private traders had purchased 3.5 lakh metric tonnes of wheat.

He said Sirsa district was leading with over 6.50 lakh metric tonnes of wheat arrival, followed by Fatehabad with 4.93 lakh metric tonnes, Karnal with 4.34 lakh metric tonnes, Kaithal with about 4.36 lakh metric tonnes, Jind with 4.34 lakh metric tonnes and Kurukshetra with 2.93 lakh metric tonnes.
