UPA fails to contain inflation: CPI National Secretary
Tiruchirapalli, May 26 (UNI) The UPA has miserably failed to contain the price hike of essential commodities, National Secretary of CPI D Raja said.
Talking to mediapersons here Mr Raja, who was in the city in connection with the inauguration of a new wing in the district party office building, said the government had not realised that it was a matter of serious concern. The people looked to the government to take concrete action on controlling the price hike and curbing the inflation rate, he added.
Stating that on this single issue the government would face defeat, he said neither he nor the people were convinced of the explanation given by the Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram on this matter.
Asked whether the CPI would go in for any nationwide struggle in this regard, he said his party had already staged enough agitations and street corner meetings pressing for a remedy for this critical situation. However, he said the party would wait and see.
