TN Traders Assn chief arrested

Chennai, May 26 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Traders Association President T Vellaiyan was today arrested along with ten of his supporters when they attempted to agitate against the removal of encroachments at Aminjikarai in the city.

All the arrested were later released.

Mr Vellaiyan said officials were trying to evict the people, living here for more than 30 years, stating that the lands belonged to the Housing Board.

''When we tried to resist the eviction drive, we were arrested'', he added.
