TN CM distributes solatium to the legal heirs of Tamil language
Chennai, May 26 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today distributed a solatium of Rs 1.75 crore to the legal heirs and descendants of doyens of Tamil language, whose works were nationalised by the government.
Following the announcement of the nationalisation of the works of 20 Tamil scholars on May 21, the Chief Minister today distributed the solatium to their legal heirs and descendants at the secretariat.
The legal heirs of doyens like M Singaravelar, Ki Va Jaganathan, A Sa Gnanasambandar, Deepam Na Parthasarathy, Avvai Duraisamy were given Rs 15 lakhs each, an official release here said.
Mr Karunanidhi distributed Rs ten lakh each to the descendants of Kundrakudi Adigalar, Ki Aa Pe Viswanatham, Thirukuralar V Munusamy, Uvamai Kavignar Suradha, Savi, S S Thennarasu and Rs Five lakh each to the heirs of Va Ko Shanmugam, Kavignar Vanidasan, Karunandam, T K Seenuvasan, C P Chitrarasu A V P Asaithambi, Rama Arangannal and Kavignar Marudakasi, the release added.
It also mentioned that the works of Jalakandapuram Pa Kannan had also been nationalised and a solatium of Rs Five lakh would be given to the legal heirs after they produced the legal heir certificates.
