Territorial Army photo exhibition begins today

Chandigarh, May 26 (UNI) The four-day long photo exhibition of the Territorial Army (TA), titled "Territorial Army Down the Ages" was inaugurated by Punjab Defence Services Welfare Minister Capt Kanwaljit Singh, at the Government Museum and Art Gallery here today.

A wide collection of photographs from the archives of the TA showcasing its history and achievements over the years have been put on display. The exhibition is open for the general public.

Maj Gen P C Kharbanda, MGGS, Western Command; Brig J S Thind, Commander, TA Group, Western Command and a large number of TA officers were present on the occasion.

Mr Hakam Singh, Field Exhibition Officer of the Directorate of Advertising and Visual Publicity (DAVP) was also present.

The exhibition has been jointly organised by the TA and DAVP.

Speaking on the occasion, Capt Kanwaljit Singh said that the TA had a glorious past, which was full of sacrifices in the service of the nation and even in the present times, the TA is doing a commendable job in all parts of the country.

Having a special word of appreciation for the eco battalions of the TA, the Minister said that they are carrying out a very important task of preserving the environment in whichever areas they are working.

The level of training and commitment of the personnel in the TA is no less than that of the regular army, which they have proven a number of times, he added.

The exhibition is an endeavour of the Territorial Army, in association with DAVP, to create awareness among the general public about the history and activities of the TA and also to motivate civilians to join the organisation.
