Teenager attempts suicide over eve teasing

Varanasi, May 26 (UNI) Fed up with eve teasing, a teenager allegedly attempted suicide by jumping in the Ganga river in Ramnagar area here today.

The teenaged daughter of a streetside vendor hailing from Sujabad village tried to end her life near the Bhagwan Ram Ashram.

Alert fishermen, however, rescued her. The girl is stated to be out of danger.

Prima facie, eve teasing by a youth of an influential family has emerged to be a reason behind the extreme step, police said.

The case is being investigated.
