State Govt mulling change in crop pattern
Akola, May 26 (UNI) Maharashtra Agriculture Minister Balasaheb Thorat has said the State Government is taking steps to increase agricultural production by changing the crop pattern.
The State Government will take the advice of agricultural universities in this regard, Mr Thorat said while addressing the Amravati divisional review meeting on Kharif crops here yesterday.
Increasing the agro production is our new agricultural policy, Mr Thorat said.
Mr Thorat stressed that the agricultural universities should provide guidance to farmers and should conduct research on ways to enhance agro production.
Speaking on the need to change the crop pattern to increase agricultural production, Mr Thorat said the pattern should be decided according to the specific taluka-level requirements.
