Shimla Summer Festival from June two

Shimla, May 26 (UNI) The five day Shimla Summer Festival will begin at the historic Ridge Maidan from June two.

Addressing the media persons here, Deputy Commissioner Tarun Kapoor said the singing programmes have already begun. Tourists as well as locals are given a chance to participate in these programmes.

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh will inaugurate the festival.

Giving a detail of the main events, Mr Kapoor said Himachal Food Festival would be organised by HP Tourism Development Corporation from June one to 15, baby show on June four, painting competition from June nine to 11, flower show from June one to three, band competition from June seven onwards and the dog show would be held on June two.

He said the five day festival would start every day with tunes from the 'Pahari Orchestra'. On the opening day Bollywood singer Alka Yaganik alongwith local singers Jaya Thakur, Shyam Singta and Pornima Negi would be the main attraction.

He said Miss Shimla beauty contest and fashion show would be the attraction on the third day.
