Shantha Biotechnics triples Vaccine Filling

Hyderabad, May 26: Vaccine manufacturer Shantha Biotechnics Ltd today opened its new cGMP-compliant, state-of-the-art high speed vaccine vial filling facility at Medchal, near here.

Andhra Pradesh Major Industries Minister J Geetha Reddy inaugurated the new facility.

The new high-speed vial fill and finish suite, located at its sprawling 80,000 sq ft vaccine manufacturing facility in Medchal, would have a capacity to fill and finish three lakh vials per day.

Set up at a cost of Rs 250 crore, the new facility had been established to meet the increasing demand for its range of vaccines.

Apart from Hepatitis B, DPT-Hep B and Tetanus toxoid, the vaccines under development like Human Pappiloma Virus (HPV) and Rotavirus, and the soon-to-be-launched pentavalent vaccine would be formulated and blended in this new facility.

The Fill Finish facility had three filling lines a High speed vial filling line, Uniject filling line and Glass pre-fill syringe line. The installed capacities were 150,000, 60,000 and 40,000 vials per day.
