Searches continue in Old City
Hyderabad, May 26 (UNI) Intensive searches were being conducted and constant vigil were being maintained in the Old City areas of Hyderabad in view of the tension that prevailed yesterday, the first Friday after the May 18 bomb blast in the historic Mecca Masjid.
After the Friday prayers yesterday, some youths took out a procession despite a ban on them. Policemen, who were instructed to show utmost restraint, obeyed orders and did not intervene.
However, when the marchers started pelting stones at some shops, they had to use force and bring the situation under control. MIM leaders, members of the peace committee and other religious leaders helped the police to bring the situation under control in just within 20 minutes.
Restrictions during nights were being continued though the old city areas were peaceful. A ban has been imposed on pillion riding from 2300 hrs to 0600 hrs in these areas.
Police were questioning anyone moving about in a suspicious manner. The restrictions would continue till normalcy returns to the old city.
