Anand, May 26 (UNI) Chief Minister Narendra Modi today visited Khambhat, 50 km from here, in the evening and inaugurated several schemes.

Mr Modi flagging-off the commencement of a gas pipeline project and potable water project assured the people that all these projects will be helpful to them.

He also announced a Rs 1.5 crore irrigation project that would benefit 335 hectares of land, and a water filter plant to be installed by the Khambhat civic body.

The ''Vikaspath Yojana'', a road project was also among projects inaugurated by the Chief Minister today.

Mr Modi lamented the fact that erstwhile Charotar region comprising Anand and Kheda district had given the state two chief ministers. Yet no chief minister has bothered to help Khambhat in its march to progress. ''I will see that Khambhat, being situated on the sea-shore, makes rapid progress''. This is my government's commitment.
