MK refuses to comment on possible patch up with Maran

Chennai, May 26 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President M Karunanidhi today refused to comment on the possibility of a patch up with his grand nephew and former Union Minister Dayanidhi Maran.

''I don't want to say anything about this,'' he said when asked about reports that Mr Maran, who fell out with him after the May nine Madurai violent incidents, was making moves for a patch up.

Asked whether Mr Maran was issued a show cause notice as why he should not be expelled from the primary membership of the party as decided by the Administrative Committee on May 13, the DMK leader said the process was yet to be completed.

The DMK had decided to remove Mr Maran from the Union Cabinet after a survey on the political heir of Mr Karunanidhi published in a Tamil daily, owned by his brother Kalanidhi Maran, triggered violence in Madurai on May 9.

Soon after the Administrative Committee authorised Mr Karunanidhi to remove Mr Maran from the Cabinet as a fall out of the incident, the latter, who was holidaying in Ooty, resigned from the Cabinet.
