Mercury dips in Chennai

Chennai, May 26 (UNI) Southerly winds continued to provide relief to Chennaites from the scorching heat, with mercury dropping to 38 degree C today.

The minimum temperatures also dropped to 28 degree C in the morning, which was less than yesterday.

The less oppressive weather was likely to persist for the next two days, as the weathermen forecasted more rain and thundershowers accompanied by squalls in the city and suburbs during the next 48 hrs.

The MET office forecast partly cloudy sky in the city during the next 24 hrs with the likelihood of rain or thundershowers accompanied by squalls in some areas.

It forcasted a maximum temperature of 38 degree C for tomorrow.
