Malaria alert in Nagaland
Kohima May 26: The Government of Nagaland has sounded a high alert in view of the reported outbreak of Malaria in neighbouring Asom.
In a notification issued yesterday, Additional Director of Health and Family Welfare Dr Imtimeren directed all the civil surgeons and chief medical officers to keep strict vigil and be prepared to tackle any such eventuality.
He also directed the district health authorities to strengthen preventive measures in all civil hospitals, primary and community health centres to ensure manpower position and necessary stock of medicines.
The notification directed all medical officers not to leave their stations without prior permission from the controlling officers and informing Dr Imtimeren.
As part of the preventive measures against Malaria, a team of inspectors, headed by the district malaria officer, conducted dual test and blood slides of 269 students as some cases of Malaria were reported in Dimapur town in the past few days.
