Chamagajnagar, Karnataka, May 26 (UNI) Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry today urged the State Government to set up an Industrial Corridor near Chamarajnagar, one of the most backward districts in the state.

In a press statement, the Mr Shivakumar, Chairman of the Infrastructure Cell of the FKCCI said that the government's efforts to give thrust to Industrial activities outside Bangalore was starting to yield results.

He said that after Bangalore, Mysore city had got more attention from investors in the IT and other sectors and setting up of Industrial Corridor between Mysore and Chamarajnagar would help boost the development of the region.

Mr Shivakumar has said that Chamarajnagar was suited for the establishment of apparel parks, food processing units and manufacture of Electronic goods.

He also informed that the Chief Minister, who was scheduled to visit Chamarajnagar tomorrow, would inaugurate the District branch of FKCCI to help usher in development in the backward region.

No Chief Minister had visited this district during the last 17 years after late Chief Minister Veerendra Patil paid a visit to Chamarajnagar. This was due to a taboo that whenever a Chief Minister visited the 'jinxed' town, he would lose power within six months. Incidentally it had so happened in case of Mr Veerendra Patil and S R Bommai who had lost power after they visited the town.
