'K'taka will get justice from SC on Cauvery issue'
Bangalore, May 26: Karnataka Water Resources Minister K S Eswarappa today expressed optimism that the state will get justice in the Supreme Court with regard to sharing of Cauvery river water dispute.
Speaking to newsmen here after meeting country's eminent legal expert F S Nariman, he said that he discussed with him in detail about the issue and various possibilities to get justice for farmers in the basin. The Cauvery Tribunal's verdict, prima facie, delivered injustice with regard to provision of drinking water, allocation of water for irrigation and ground water resources. "I hope the Supreme Court will take all these aspects into consideration and provide justice to the farmers of Karnataka," he added.
He said Mr Nariman led a team of legal experts fighting the case before the tribunal and the supreme court on behalf of the state.
They were engaged in a three day interaction with the irrigation department officials which began yesterday, he added.
