Bangalore, May 26 (UNI) Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader and Karnataka Water Resources Minister K S Eswarappa today urged not to attach importance to observations made by Labour Minister Iqbal Ansari in Dakshina Kannada District yesterday that Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy will continue in office even after completing 20 months.

When newsmen asked to comment on his remarks, Mr Eswarappa said it was quite natural that every politician tried to get into the publicity mode by uttering something. "I want to make it clear that the arrangement between the Janata Dal (Secular) and Bharatiya Janata Party was a gentleman's agreement and soon after completing 20 months in power, JD(S) would ensure smooth transfer of power to BJP," he said urging the media not to attach too much importance to the statement made by the labour minister. He was non committal on the Chief Minister's presence on the dias when Mr Ansary made these remarks. 'Ask the Chief Minister' was also he could say.

He said the common objective of the coalition partners was to keep away the congress from acquiring power and it had been done successfully for the last 14 months.

He referred to the observation made by former Karnataka Chief Minister M Veerappa Moily that the BJP had 'hijacked' the achievements of the coalition government and complemented him for accepting that the coalition set up had made some achievements.

However, he was sad that Mr Moily had indulged in politics by saying that BJP had 'hijacked' the coalition government's achievements.
