Puducherry: Kalam to visit Yanam for a day

Puducherry, May 26: President A P J Abdul Kalam will pay a day's visit to Yanam region in the Union Territory during the second week of June to lay the foundation stone for the construction of a replica of Eiffel Tower.

Minister for Tourism Malladi Krishna Rao told newspersons here yesterday that Reliance would meet the expenditure for the iron structure to be erected at Girimpetta in Yanam.

Dr Kalam would also launch the 'Health Insurance Scheme' of the territorial administration which would be implemented in collaboration with Apollo Hospital since no specialist services were available in Yanam at present.

The President would also launch the ''Green Yanam Project'' under which 10,600 houses in the region would be provided with a sapling.

He would interact with the students of schools and colleges of Union Territory and other four states, Mr Rao said.
