Indian truck industry provides business: AMW MD

Visakhapatnam, May 26: Asia Motor Works Ltd (AMW) Managing Director and CEO Anirudh Bhuwalka today said the Indian truck industry has gradually evolved in the recent years with ample business opportunities with rapid industrialisation, sustained GDP growth of 8.5 per cent and the government's focus on new projects.

Addressing a press conference here, he unveiled the company's first dealership for Visakhapatnam by partnering with DRD Trucks India Private Ltd and showcased its global truck services 4923 tractor, tipper and trailer in the city.

Mr Bhuwalka said the tipper market would strenghen its presence in the state, which had various industries like fisheries, steel, shipping etc besides being a port town.

Out of the total sales of 1,000 trucks in a year, 175 trucks were sold in Andhra Pradesh.

Company Vice-President and Marketing Officer R C Mangal said the AMW's new generation global trucks were formed of an amalgamation of world's most advanced automotive technologies. The trucks came with higher horsepower offering, gearboxes with higher torque capabilities, axles with greater reliability and load carrying capacity, cabins with safety and superior ergonomics and was avainlable in price range between 14 lakh and 28 lakh.

The AMW established in the year 2002 had a state-of-the-art vehicles fully integrated manufacturing facility spread over 600 acres in Bhuj. It specialized in design and manufacture of high tonnage vehicles and entered into collaborative partnerships with pioneering aggregate suppliers, he added.
