India calls for peace, restraint in Palestine
New Delhi, May 26: Expressing concern at the escalating violence in Palestine and Israel, India today called for restraint and return to peace and dialogue, hoping that the peace process would be brought back on track.
It also warned that the arrest of elected representatives of the people by another country could only lead to further complications and violence.
''We are concerned about the escalating violence in Palestine and Israel, especially that directed against innocent civilians.
The arrest of elected representatives of the people by another country can only lead to further complications and violence,'' an External Affairs Ministry spokesman said.
He said India also hoped that the peace process would be brought back on track and resumed as soon as possible.
''All sides must make efforts to exercise restraint and return to the path of dialogue and peace,'' the spokesman added.
