I am focussed on development and not politics: Azad
Srinagar, May 26 (UNI) ''My focus is on development of Jammu and Kashmir and not on politics. For politics, there are so many people in the state,'' said Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad today.
''Since taking over as the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir in November 2005, I have made efforts to concentrate more on development than politics. In Jammu and Kashmir, there is politics on every leaf of a tree,'' he told a news conference here.
Mr Azad said everybody should rise to the occasion and contribute in the development of the state, which has been badly affected by 18 years of turmoil.
Over the years, development of the state had failed to get the required attention of the people at the helm, he added.
The Chief Minister urged the public and the media to work with a single-minded agenda of development of the state.
Mr Azad said these days he was holding district level meetings aimed at mobilising the officers for implementation of development works in letter and spirit besides motivating them to render duties beyond the office hours.
