FKCCI wants Industrial Corridor near Chamarajanagar
Chamarajanagar, Karnataka, May 26 (UNI) The Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI) today urged the State Government to set up an Industrial Corridor near Chamarajanagar, one of the most backward districts in the State.
According to a release here, FKCCI Infrastructure Cell Chairman Shivakumar said the Government's efforts to give thrust to industrial activities outside Bangalore was starting to yield results.
He said that after Bangalore, Mysore had got more attention from investors in IT and other sectors and setting up of an Industrial Corridor between Mysore and Chamarajanagar would help to boost the development of the region.
Chamarajanagar was suited for the establishment of apparel parks, food processing units and manufacturing hubs of electronic goods, Mr Shivakumar added.
The Chief Minister, who was scheduled to visit here tomorrow, would inaugurate the Chamarajanagar district branch of FKCCI, he informed.
No Chief Minister had visited this district during the last 17 years since late Chief Minister Veerendra Patil. This was due to a taboo that whenever a Chief Minister visited the 'jinxed' town, he would lose power within six months. Incidentally, it had so happened in the case of Mr Patil and Mr S R Bommai.
