Chennai, May 26 (UNI) With yesterday's publication of photo rolls for most of the Assembly Constituencies in the state and for the remaining constituencies between June four and 11, Tamil Nadu would be joining those few states in the country to have achieved this well ahead of the Lok Sabha elections to be held in 2009.

The other states and Union Territories to have achieved this task were Kerala, Pondicherry, Rajasthan, Haryana and Tripura.

Except for Chennai, where the coverage of electors with images was only 78 per cent, all the other districts have reached a coverage of more than 90 per cent. The overall coverage in the state was 94.90 per cent.

An official release here today said that henceforth all inclusions in the rolls would be made only after capturing the image of the claimants.

In addition, the Election Commission of India has prescribed a new form Form 001A on which also a photo has to be affixed for issue of EPIC. The revised forms would be made available in all the designated centres.

As the photo rolls were being prepared and published for the first time, there was a possibility of mismatch of images. Any such anomaly should be brought to the notice of the concerned officials for correction.
