Entrepreneurship Dvpt Centre in Leh, Badgam

Srinagar, May 26: Under the Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Development (STED), about 50 enterprises will be established in the central Kashmir district of Badgam.

An official spokesman said in order to implement STED project at Budgam, Governing Body of Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) had identified commercial Floriculture and IT sectors, in which at least 50 enterprises and units would be established in the district during the current financial year.

Apart from grooming its core faculty, the institute is also in the process of engaging the services of a consultant in the area of Floriculture to meet the requirements of the entrepreneurs.

These decisions were taken at 10th meeting of the Governing Body of JKEDI, chaired by Chief Secretary C Phunsog held here the other day.

Chief Secretary asked EDI to work in close coordination with Agriculture and Horticulture departments, considering local resources base, market opportunities, business environment and also taking into consideration the previous experience.

For extending training facilities and consulting support to the aspiring entrepreneurs of Ladakh division, an Entrepreneurship Development Centre would be established at Leh, beside establishing a STED project at Budgam in Kashmir division.

Mr Phungsog underscored the need of creating awareness among the youths about various Entrepreneurship Awareness Programmes and available carrier options.

He eulogised the efforts of JKEDI in upgrading the skills and knowledge of the entrepreneurs by providing them latest know-how and available market opportunities.

He said that entrepreneurship under horticulture, floriculture and agriculture sectors promiseD ample job avenues and called for promoting it by persuading the youth to set up their income generating units under these sectors.
