Emergency services in medical colleges paralysed
Patna, May 26 (UNI) Emergency services in medical colleges at Patna and Darbhanga were paralysed today as doctors resorted to wildcat strike on different issues.
Deputy Superintendent of Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH) R K Singh told UNI that unauthorised interference in hospital affairs by some women representing an NGO invited ire from the junior doctors on duty.
Following failure of the administration and hospital authorities to book the NGO activists, including the wife of a senior IAS officer posted in Bihar, junior doctors went on an indefinite strike since 1600 hrs, Mr Singh said, adding that efforts were on to restore normalcy in the hospital through dialogue between the agitating doctors' representatives and state Health Minister Chandra Mohan Rai.
In Darbhanga, doctors of the medical college boycotted emergency services in protest against the misbehaviour meted out to a senior surgeon by the police when he was driving to attend his duties.
