Court summons Murthy on "National Anthem" issue
Bangalore, May 26 (UNI) A city court today directed Infosys Chief Mentor N R Narayana Murthy to be present before the court in person on June 21 in connection with the ''National Anthem'' issue.
The summon follows, a case filed in the court of Second Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate by Members of Kannada Rakshana Vakilara Vedike.
In the petition, they contended that Mr Murthy had violated the law by playing musical version of national anthem during the visit of President A P J Abdul Kalam to Infosys Global Training Centre in Mysore on April 8.
Mr Murthy had told repoters in Mysore on the same day that the musical version was played as singing the Anthem would 'embarrass' the foreign students who were present in the campus.
Later, he however clarified that he had not done anything to violate the National Anthem and infact sung the Anthem when the music was being played.
The episode led to a furore and several organisations had protested against his remarks. Some of them even filed complaints with the police in this regard.
The complainants approached the court after officials of a police station in the city had refused to book the case.
