Congress threatens to agitate if Raje posters not seized

Jaipur, May 26 (UNI) The ''poster drama'', portraying Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje as Goddess Annapurna, today took a political turn with the Congress threatening to protest if the posters were not seized within a week.

Addressing a press conference here, state Congress president B D Kalla said the controversial posters have hurt the religious sensibilities of millions of people and idolising leaders should be condemned in the strongest terms.

He said the Congress would wait for a week for the posters to be seized. ''And if it is not done, the party will hold protests all over the state and burn in effigies BJP leaders,'' Dr Kalla added.

The Congress demanded that a case be lodged against Jodhpur poster-maker Hemant Bohra as such offence is punishable under section 295, 298 and 120-B of the IPC.

The poster 'Jai Annapurna Maharani Vasundhara' was released on April 15 on the occasion of completion of three years of the BJP government in the state.

It also depicted former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee as Vishnu, senior BJP leader L K Advani as Brahma and BJP president Rajnath Singh as Mahesh. State Ministers Laxmi Narayna Dave and Pratap Singh Singhvi were showed as Kuber and Indra, respectively.
