Cong says suspension of Achuthanandan could affect governance
Thiruvanthapuram, May 26 (UNI) The opposition Congress in Kerala today said the suspension of Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan and the state unit party Secretary Pinarayi Vijayan from the CPI(M) polit bureau was party's internal problem.
He, however, cautioned that it could have an impact on the governance of the state, Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee President Ramesh Chennithala said.
The suspension of the two top leaders could have far reaching consequences and it could also have an impact on the government, he said.
The decision of the Polit bureau had also shown that there was no media syndicate as alleged by Mr Vijayan. It was now clear that the media was right in what it had reported on the internal fights in the party, he added.
Meanwhile, Leader of the Opposition in the Kerala Assembly Oommen Chandy declined to comment saying it was CPI(M)'s internal issue.
However, UDF Convenor P P Thankachan opined that Mr Achuthanandan should be removed from the Chief Ministership and Mr Vijayan as the state unit secretary. If these two leaders continued, it would affect the governance of the state, he added.
CPI(M) party chief M V Raghavan also said the two should be removed from their respective positions.
The CPI, an ally in the LDF, said it could comment only after getting all the details pertaining to the suspension.
The CPI (M) today suspended Mr Achuthanandan and Mr Vijayan from the Polit bureau for airing their differences on various issues in public.
