Centre rushes more forces to Asom
New Delhi, May 26 (UNI) The Centre will rush additional para-military forces to step up security in Guwahati where a powerful explosion killed at least seven people and injured 17 at the Athgaon area.
Home Ministry sources said central forces would be provided immediately, and the state government had been advised to remain vigilant to ensure nothing disorderly happened.
Sources said today's blast was the deadliest attack by the insurgent group ULFA in the last six months.
Home Secretary Madhukar Guta reviewed the security situation in Asom, when he spoke to the Chief Secretary and the Director General of Police.
Meanwhile, Home Minister Shivraj Patil condemned the incident.
